Washing clothes is one of those jobs that is ‘never done’. It’s the same thing for washing the dishes, vacuuming… even washing yourself for that matter!

The difference is that many of us don’t have a washing machine at home, which leaves us with no other option other than to use a local laundromat. Or, maybe you do have a washer and dryer at home, are you one of those people that is going to spend a full day packing a large comforter blanket into your washer and dryer?

The good news is that laundromats tend to offer the very best machines, ample volume for big washes and lots of other services that you wouldn’t be able to get from home.

The bad news is that the costs can add up fast! Luckily, at The Great American Laundry, we offer a state-of-the-art laundromat rewards card. With this rewards/loyalty card, you’ll be able to use the washers and dryers at The Great American Laundry and save a whole lot of cash in the process!

Our Laundromat Rewards Card

At The Great American Laundromat, we use a rewards card system called FasCard. This card works with machines that take cash, debit and credit card and that means you won’t be fumbling around for spare change every time you visit. It brings a ton of different advantages to users, too.

The card is small and easy to fit into a pocket and offers a loyalty program for users. So just bring it along and each time you use one of our machines, you’ll rack up more points which you can then use for discounts and more. This means that the more often you use the laundry service, the more money you’ll be able to save in the long run!

There’s more to this laundromat rewards card, too. FasCard also features a smartphone app, which will let you easily log in to see how many points you’ve racked up and what that’s worth to you. Another convenient feature is the ‘multi-vend’ support. In plain English, that means that when you perform multiple washes on a single machine, you will still only need to swipe your card once at the start.

There’s no minimum purchase, and the time of day pricing means you can get extra bonuses for using the machine at specific times with your laundromat rewards card.

More Ways to Save Money

There are more ways you can save money by washing at the laundromat too. Here are a few of our favorites…

Fill the Machine

Most laundry machines will charge the same amount regardless of the weight or the bulk of items you put in. That means there’s no reason to skimp and only add a few t-shirts per wash: instead, fit as many items as you can into the drum while making sure not to exceed the maximum weight. Mix up your large, heavy items and the smaller, lighter ones and that way you can fit a larger load into fewer machines.

Choose the Right Detergent

The laundry machine itself is not the only cost associated with washing your clothes! You also need to think about the detergent you use, the fabric softener and anything else. Shop around, buy in bulk and make sure you’re getting the best deal on any additional products you use. You’re already using a laundromat rewards card, might as well go the whole hog!

Make Fewer Trips

Another cost associated with the laundromat is gas: driving to and from the laundromat. This is another reason why it makes sense to take lots of items at once, and even to set multiple machines going at the same time.

Another option is to try and time your trips to the laundromat with other journeys. If you go past on weekends when you take the kids to dance class, then why not drop your clothes in at the same time? You’ll save yourself money, it’s kinder to the environment and you’ll also save yourself time and unnecessary driving around!

Or why not use our excellent drop off service? Ours costs just $1.15 per pound of dry laundry but if it saves you travel, then it will save you money on gas yet again!
